McDonald's is not so fast food

Today I took Colleen to McDonalds to get a happy meal and play with her little friends on the play ground. It took over 20 minutes to get our happy meal, medium fry, and iced tea. At one point they had 18 orders up to fill and instead of stopping and completing those orders, cashiers just kept taking orders. I know you don't have to be brilliant to be employed by McDonalds, but I think some common sense might be a good quality. The McDonald's commercials always show their employees continuing on to achieve great things or they show celebrities and olympians who used to work at McDonalds. I'm starting to not believe everything I see on TV. To add to my negative McDonald's experience they did not have iced coffee. I had Iced coffee at a McDonalds in Maryland. I see Iced coffee on McDonalds commercials. I'm starting to wonder why McDonalds is America's number one fast food chain. Ok, enough McDonalds bashing for now. Did I ever mention how much I love Chic Fila?

I hate being sick

So, I had a sick kid all week, then on Thursday I came down with what she had. It was awful. Major sore throat, fever, pounding headache and body aches. Colleen is totally better. She's been on antibiotics since Monday. I am feeling better without antibiotics. I went in on Friday, but they won't call me until Monday with my strep test results. I'm hoping it is negative and its just a virus or something I'm fighting. I've been drinking club soda by the gallon. It feels sooo good on my throat and without the sugar that other soda has. I have pretty bad cabin fever though. Colleen has been sick since Monday, so besides trips to the doctor, I've been in the house all week. Colleen was feeling it too. We let her play out in her pool today.

so sleepy lately

I'm so tired lately. I hate that feeling. I think its the heat. It drains me. We're in heat stress catagory 5. That is the worst catagory. This morning I went to the commissary and there was this little old guy shopping. He was so cute. He was singing up and down the isles as he shopped and everytime I passed him he smiled at me and tipped his hat. Little old people are so cute, even the cranky ones. There was a little old couple infront of me in line. It wasn't too busy, but there was only one checker, so the line was a little long. The little old man infront of me was complaing about how nobody knows how to run the commissary anymore these days. he went on and on. He was cute. I know I've said this before, but I love little old people.

Monday Monday

I was really excited about today, because Rory was off and he was going to spend daddy-daughter time with Colleen while I went to get my hair cut and do some shopping for shoes. I got my hair cut, but that was it. Colleen had a really high fever, so we had to take her in. The doctor thinks she has strep throat. She said it is unusual for children under 3 though. We find out tomorrow for sure. In the mean time, her fever has gone down and she has managed to eat a popsicle and some fruit. She looked so ill earlier today. It was sooo sad. My poor baby. I think she got it from a play group I take her too.
Tonight is game 7 of the NHL playoffs. I know none of you care, but it is super exciting. The occasion totally calls for a super pretzel and a beer. I hope Edmonton beats the snot out of Carolina. Speaking of beating the snot out of people. Rory has this ringer on his phone that irritates me. Its this guy and when his phone rings it says "answer you darn(but it doesn't say darn) phone! Answer the phone before I whoop the snot out of ya and then beat your a** for having a runny nose." I can't stand that ring. yeah, the first time I heard it I laughed, but then I got to thinking about when Colleen hears it. That is the last thing I want her to say in church when somebody forgets to turn the ringer off their phone.

Dinner was really good

I guess I shouldn't have doubted Rory in his dinner making skills. He ended up making a really good dinner. He baked chicken in a homemade sauce made with dijon mustard, honey, basil, paprika, and parsley. Then with the chicken he made wraps. Not only was it yummy, it was healthy. Amazing.

Rory is making dinner

Rory decided he wants to make dinner tonight. He went to the store this morning and got stuff. All I figured out is that it has chicken in it. I'm a little scared that he is making dinner. This is the same man that mixes Top Ramen, canned corn, and tuna. It is nice though. I don't have to worry about planning or cooking dinner. We'll see how it turns out. Wish me luck.

Saturday

Today is Saturday. Rory was sweet and tried to let me sleep in. He got up when Colleen got up at 6:30. They let me sleep in until 7:00 and then came in and turned the TV on and climbed all over me. That's ok though, her cute little smile woke me up. I'm enjoying coffee right now. I was spoiled drinking Seattle's Best, but then I ran out, so now I'm drinking my coffee reserve, which is folgers. Doesn't taste quite the same after Seattle's Best. Right now Colleen is putting all her toys on the couch, because she wants to vacuum. Silly Girl.
Today is Saturday. I don't have any big plans. I think we're going to that crazy walmart place to get some totes to help organize my closet. I watched a show on spider bites and it inspired me to totally clean my closets and contain my stuff in totes. I've had spider nightmares since I've seen it, so I think I'll feel better after organizing my closets. Maybe I shouldn't watch the discovery channel anymore. I think after walmart Colleen and I will play in her pool. Fun times.

ouch

Last night I was taking Colleen down stairs to put her to bed. I was carrying her and all of a sudden I was on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. It was weird, because I didn't realize I fell down stairs until I was at the bottom. I was holding on to colleen, so she pretty much just rode on me. She was fine. I was fine until I woke up this morning. My tail bone and lower back hurts so bad. Super sore. I could barely move when I first woke up. I haven't fallen down the stairs in awhile, I forgot what it feels like. In College Sara and I used to wear these Eastland boots and for some reason we were always falling down stairs in them. Its not fun.

Growing up fast

Colleen doesn't fit in highchairs at restaurants anymore. Her legs won't fit. She's so big. At Chic Fila they didn't have booster seats, so she just had to sit in a chair. She looked so big. Man, she is growing up. Part of me wants to keep her little.
Anyways, I'm watching twister chasers. These people pay 2,000 dollars a week to ride in a van with tornado chasers. Sounds like fun, but expensive. Our family got super close to a twister in Montana in our Dodge Ram Charger. I don't think I would pay 2,000 dollars to do that again. That was scaaaaaary. It was so loud, we couldn't hear each other yelling.

Maryland

We've been in Maryland since Sunday. It has been fun hanging out with family. Colleen is having fun with her grandparents. Last night we had a birthday party for Rory's mom. We made everybody play pin the tail on the donkey. Rory's mom has been wanting a tattoo, but she's too scared, so we put stick-on tattoos in a bag and had everybody take one and put it on. We called it tattoo therapy. I think everybody had a good time. It would have been even more fun with Sara though. (miss you!!!!) Tomorrow Rory is playing in a golf tournament, so I think my mom and I are going shopping for something to wear to brother's wedding in August. I know that is a long time away, but its more fun shopping with somebody who is going also. Here are pics of the party. We put in funny teeth to sing happy birthday.
