Top of the muffin to you

Does anybody remember the Seinfeld episode 155 where Elaine eats only the tops of muffins and Mr. Lippman decides to start a business called "Top of the Muffin to You" and they only sell muffin tops? Well, today at the store in the freezer section I noticed a box of blueberry muffin tops. That is what they are called "muffin tops" I laughed because of the funny Seinfeld. I love that episode. I bought them to see what they are like.

I was thinking, last year at this time Monday was my favorite day of the week. I looked forward to Mondays to watch 24. With the whole writers strike this year I don't have any shows that I enjoy watching. I really don't watch television in the evening much lately. Mostly because I go to bed so stinking early lately. I pretty much only watch hockey or read books. I should just cancel my cable once hockey season is over.

Tomorrow I'm going to make fresh apple pie. yum

hair is going bye bye!!

Today I'm going to have my mom cut my hair. Even when it is in a ponytail, nolan is at the age where he likes to grab a handful and pull. I can only put it in a bun to keep it out of his little hands and thats not very sexy. I asked my mom to cut quite a bit off, so my ponytail isn't so long and I can wear it down when I'd like. I'm excited. Its so great to have a mom that can cut hair. I can't remember the last time I paid to have my hair cut.

Friday

Today is Friday!!! Friday. What does Friday mean? Trash Day. Some Fridays I'm bummed, because it means a long weekend while Rory is at work, but this Friday I'm feeling pretty good, because Rory is off this weekend and my parents are on their way down to visit. I need to get the house cleaned up today and start a marinade for my dinner I'm making. I have plans on honey mustard pork tenderloins and this potato dish I made up. I slice red potatoes and toss them in olive oil then sprinkle them with emril seasoning and shredded cheddar. super yummy. Colleen has plans on making brownies in a heart shaped pan for her grandma and grandad.
Yesterday, she had such a fun day. In the morning she got a special delivery of candy, balloons, and a pretty pink dog. It was from her daddy. At first she was kinda nervous when the lady asked "are you colleen?" She hid behind me. I think she thought she was in trouble or something. One time awhile back she had a really bad day and I threatened daycare if she didn't start behaving. I normally don't dish out threats, but I was so tired that day from being up all night with Nolan. Anyways, she thought the lady was from daycare. AFter she realized she had a special delivery for her, she was super excited. I didn't get anything done yesterday. I just had fun with Colleen all day. We made fresh squeezed lemonade. She's been dying to make lemonade. They made it in one of her shows. She had a lot of fun doing that. I love fresh squeezed juices. so yummy.
This weekend we have plans on taking Colleen ice skating. Grandad is bringing down a surprise for Colleen. her very own ice skates. She's going to be so happy. Ever since she saw this movie called "Ice Princess" she's been asking for skates. Its going to be fun seeing her open them. Oh yeah, my parents are bringing down my birthday present too. They found a love seat from a warehouse that is the match to the Ethan allen couch we have. The couch was my grandparents. I love it. my parents spent a lot of time and hard work fixing up the love seat they found. It is a super special present. I know I'll love it. They're the best parents ever.

Sweet Day

So, this afternoon Colleen decided to put on a pretty dress and asked to go out to eat to a fancy restaurant. I thought it was so cute and we never eat out, so we did. First, her and Rory ran an errand and came home with a bunch of pretty daisies. I arranged them in a vase the best that I could. They smell so good and brighten up the house. After they got back we all went out to eat at Red Robin. It was ok. Colleen had a ton of fun. We even let her get one of their huge shakes. I ended up drinking a majority of it, but she liked the idea of it. It was a fun family evening. Here is a picture of my pretty flowers.

my love bugs

So, here are my kiddos portrait. Colleen, 3 and Nolan is 4 months now. He looks big compared to her. They are so much fun. Nolan's own little personality comes out more and more each day and he is such a little boy. When he plays, he plays hard. When he plays with his toys he makes this monster noise as he tries to eat them. Its so funny. Colleen absolutely adores him. She is such a little mommy. Yesterday she said to me "maybe next time grandma comes, our next baby will come." I just said "I don't think so" but it was sooo cute they way she said it. She has this Mary Catherine Gallagher dance that cracks me up. She's never seen Molly Shannon do it, but Colleen does it a lot like her. Funny kid. She also likes to tell jokes. At dinner lately she tells jokes at the table. Its fun.

Tom and Jerry

Colleen is really into watching Tom and Jerry lately. I always let her watch it while I'm doing a little house work or cooking. I figured it was harmless, because its a classic. I think everybody watched Tom and Jerry when they were younger. Today i cuddled with her and watched it and began to wonder if Tom and Jerry is really a good cartoon for a 3 year old. Today I saw Tom cut a lamp cord that was plugged into the wall with scissors and then in another episode he downed a bunch of pills so he could fall asleep. Not to mention all the violence Tom and Jerry inflict on each other. I just talked to Colleen about how its just a cartoon. I guess I watched it when I was little and it didn't screw me up.
Super bowl is on right now. Rory is down the street at a party. I went with the kids long enough to stuff my face and then head home with the baby. Rory brought Colleen home at half time. She was having fun with the other kids. I think there were 4 families there and between us about 20 kids. Of course only 2 of the 20 were ours. The other 18 are probably still running around like crazy. Mine are sound asleep and I'm enjoying my peaceful house. I think I'll watch the rest of the 4th while I read some of my book.
