It is Almost the New Year!

Christmas went by so fast. We missed having Christmas with my parents and Sara, but this year we were able to spend it with Andrew and Jenn. We had a lot of fun. They were only here a couple days and had to leave Christmas day. We did a lot though, we went sledding, ice skating, built a snow fort, made homemade ornaments, and more. IT was a lot of fun to have fresh snow to play in. The kids had a blast. Andrew made homemade pumpkin cinnamon rolls for us to eat while we opened presents. That was a treat.

Sara and Fawn might come tomorrow if the weather cooperates. Colleen is praying and praying that they can come. She can't wait to see them and their dogs. We are planning on going snow tubing and ice skating while they are here, so hopefully the weather is nice. We've also got tickets to take holiday lights cruise. Sounds fun if the weather is nice.

Colleen is planning a New Year's party. She loves to party. I think we'll let her ring in the New Year with my parents on east coast time, so that she can make noise. She would never make it until midnight.

Peeping Tomcat

Several times I've caught our neighbor's cat sitting on our porch just staring in the window by our front door. Sometimes at night, he makes me jump. What does he want? His owners need to let him in his own house. Is he looking in thinking "What a happy family, I wish I could be apart of such a warm, joyous household." Or is he thinking "Maybe if I stare in the window long enough, they'll feed me." I bet he's probably thinking "Man, I wish I could live here. Look at the counter space I can walk across with my filthy litter box paws. Oh, and look at that couch I can scratch at and destroy with my claws. Ooooh, ooooh, that Christmas tree looks like a blast to climb and destroy. I love it when the vents are on the floor like that, they are perfect for peeing in. I could be the perfect cat for them." STOP STARING IN MY WINDOW STUPID CAT!

Night glow

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night with a sudden thought to make sure I turned the oven off. I knew I turned it off, but my mind always forces me to question myself. I inherited this paranoia from my mom. Whenever we went anywhere growing up, we would all pile in the car and start down the driveway when we were always then stopped so that mom could make sure either the coffee pot was off or the door was locked.
So, I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen. As I approached the stove, a bright glow out my kitchen window caught my attention. I looked out the window and found myself unable to look away. I stood there for about five minutes in awe of the beauty. The way the snow reflected the moon's glow made it so bright out and this feeling of calmness came over me. It was so peaceful. It has been so long since I've seen the moon shine off the snow like that. I'm so glad to be back where I can enjoy winter. After watching out the window, I went back to bed and quickly drifted back off to sleep with a warm fuzzy feeling.

Friday Night

It is 8:30 on a Friday night and I'm in my Pajamas paying bills. What a great way to start the weekend.
Actually, earlier I had a lot of fun with Colleen. We had a snow party. We cut out a ton of paper snowflakes and hung them around the house while we ate warm cinnamon rolls. We are hoping that we'll have a white Christmas. Come on Snow!!! Where are you???
Nolan had fun at our snow party. He is going through a phase where he likes to throw things in the trash. I have found shoes, toys, sippy cups and his pajama pants in the trash. So, tonight he had a lot of fun throwing our paper scraps in the trash. It was a game to him. He had a blast running back and forth to the trash can and I didn't have to clean up. What a good deal.

Santa

Yesterday I took the kids to a tree lighting ceremony on base. Colleen wanted to stand in line to see Santa. I wasn't too sure it would happen though, because she has always been afraid of Santa. Last year she made Rory sleep on the couch Christmas Eve to make sure Santa didn't go down the hall to the bedrooms. Anyways, so we stood in line and she was very nervous. I told her she didn't have to go talk to him if she didn't want to. Finally, it was her turn and she got up on his lap. I was surprised, because she was so nervous. He asked her what she wanted for Christmas and she said "I can't remember, because my list is so long." It was cute. I took a picture on my cell phone. Nolan cried as soon as he saw what we were waiting in line for. He didn't want to get near Santa. That has also been Colleen's usual reaction, but I guess she is growing up.
