vacuum time

Nolan loves when I vacuum. He has a blast chasing it and then pretending the vacuum is chasing him and running away. It is pretty cute. Sometimes he'll stop and challenge the vacuum with a look and his tongue out, but then he takes off screaming. He's loved this game ever since he started walking. I didn't realize how much he loved it until the other day I said "lets pick up the floor, so mommy can vacuum." He immediately ran to the closet and excitedly repeated "vrrrmmmm" until I opened the door and got the vacuum out. As soon as it was out of the closet, he ran to it and gave the vacuum a big hug like it was a long lost friend. I've never seen anyone so excited about the vacuum before. I know what his chore is going to be when he gets older.

Happy New Year!

So, here we are in 2009. I had a great last few days of 2008 and start to 2009. Sara and Fawn came on Tuesday. New Year's Eve we just hung around the house while Fawn and Sara made noise makers with Colleen. We had a great party that night with yummy food, played a couple games with the kids, danced, and rang in the new year east coast time with the kids. It was fun. Once the kids were asleep about 9:30, I had huge doubts that I would make it until midnight, I was pooped. But, thanks to a Dog the Bounty Hunter marathon Sara, Fawn, and I made it until midnight. Hooray for the extremely interesting Chapman family entertaining us into the new year!!!
New Year's Day we went on a holiday light cruise that was a lot of fun. I'm glad we went. Although, I think Nolan had a little gas on the way home. He cried and cried and the only thing that would stop his crying was singing Down by the Bay the rest of the way home. Sara and Fawn must have thought that was fun.
Friday morning we went sledding. Sledding is always fun. Friday afternoon, Rory stayed home with Nolan and us girls went down to Riverfront park for some ice skating. We also took in a carousel ride and a ride over the falls. It is so pretty in the winter. After, a chilly afternoon we were looking forward to coming home and eating some warm noodles that Rory was preparing. Unfortunately, he had an incident with a dull knife and I ended up taking him to the ER for some stitches in his finger. Poor guy. Sara and I were able to make the noodles though and they were delish.
